I’m David. The Sunday Sip, is a weekly newsletter about my life and experiences in a rural village in North-West Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’ll be giving you a unique look, through the eyes of an immigrant (me), of this much misunderstood country. My goal is to replace the many negative perceptions of both the country and its people, that you’ll be served by international media outlets. Thank you so much for dropping by.

A Deluge in Bosnia - Rain, Rivers, and Chaos
Three days ago, the skies opened over northern Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the rain just stopped last might (as I write).
What started as heavy downpours turned into a full-blown deluge, pushing storm drains and rivers beyond their limits. From my upstairs garden, I’ve been watching the neighbouring fields slowly disappear under pooling water.
I usually head out for a walk to check on things during bad weather, but this time I relied on my drone. When the rain briefly paused, I launched it and captured some truly concerning aerial footage of the flooded fields surrounding the village.
The landscape looks completely transformed. Like a patchwork of tiny lakes where farmland once lay.
We live on a small hill so we are safe, with plenty of supplies and power (at the moment). But down below, it’s a different story. The main road into the village has been closed, and a state of emergency has been declared in the area. It’s a sobering reminder of how quickly nature can assert itself.
This feels like climate change knocking at the door. More intense, more sudden, and harder to manage.
While the political noise continues across the country, the environment seems to be writing its own headlines.

The Latest “Personal Anecdotal” Baby Boomer in Bosnia Podcast.
Welcome to my personal storytelling podcast, A Baby Boomer in Bosnia. This isn’t your typical heavily produced show with polished editing and soundscapes. Instead, it’s just me, sometimes with my wife, Tamara, talking into a microphone, sharing my experiences of living in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Whether you’re in the kitchen, driving your kids to school, working out at the gym, or simply looking for something informative yet entertaining, I hope this podcast becomes part of your routine.

Be safe please.
David, your coverage of the rain storm really brings it home. The drone shots give the "bird's eye view" and show just how much of the land has been flooded. Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm glad you live on a small hill and have avoided the flooding. Best to you and your family.
